That doesnt make the md170 an 8"....look at the actual diameter of 200mm(7.8"), taking into consideration the mounting lip all around, we are talking even less cone area.

Md180's are the real dyn 8's, with total diameter exceeding 9"

The actual cone including surround measures a lil past 7.75. Still an 8 to me Hater.

Well, I of course knew what you meant, but according to Dynaudio it's an 8-inch midwoofer. I think it's virtually an industry standard that most loudspeaker manufacturers, consumers and the media refer to cone size in terms of overall, outside measurements.

Because if you get techical, the MW170 cone itself, not counting the surround is only 151.5 mm (6.06 inches). If you hold up the MW170 with its 6 inch cone next to a 6.5 inch speaker, then the difference in size is obvious by comparison.

Hater.

What kind of depth are ya'll getting in the doors. Im looking at maybe doing 8"s in my doors. I just got my 95 max 2 weeks ago and im looking at sound options.

Another question, because for some reason it wont let me start a thread, i guess i have some kind of restriction even though this is my first post ever on this board. Has anyone put a 10" sub in the middle of their rear deck? I've figured out how to do it, but just curious if I should go with a free air and if it sounds good or not. Thanks.

My 8's are definately bordering or if not reaching 4 inches. I didn't measure them and can't find the specs on the net...The door panels of the max allow you to build out 1.5 inches which really helps.

Not a single 10, but I have 2 12's hanging from my rear deck IB. Not in tyhe middle but under around where the stock speakers were. Choose a sub that works well IB or infinate baffle, make sure you block off all other airspace between trunk and cabin, and it sounds GREAT. Maybe an IDMAX 10 I've posted pics of the subs IB enough on here that I don't want to corrupt another thread with the same old pic, so here's alink to one of those threads.

You can PM me if you have any questions.

how can you really tell if a speaker is good for IB. I was lookin at the MA Audio MA100XE, http://maaudio.com/productcatalog.cfm?class=47492 . I'm not going for anything too extreme here. Also, did you cut out a bigger hole in your rear deck cover(the cardboard piece). I imagine I'm going to have to because it wil lprobably rattle like crazy. I love the way you did yours though. Especially getting rid of the tension bars. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing in mine, just figuring out exactly how to do it. I figured I'd use some universal shocks for hoods, rear hatches, or trunks that they sell at Auto Zone or O'Rielys. Very nice.

Also, does anyone know why I cant start my own thread? Thanks

Info on a good sub for IB ...

http://forum.elitecaraudio.com/showt...hreadid=122889

I haven't put the cardboard cover back on yet, but when I do, I plan to reattach it with screws with a layer of ensolite in between to prevent rattles...

15 posts before starting your own thread.

Although if posting pointless threads and whoring up the forum to get that count I wont hesitate to ban.

I didnt mean it to be offensive or directly targeted towards you. My apologies if you took it that way. It was just a general statement.

oh, i wasnt taking it offensively. Ive been on other forums and I know how it all goes down with people posting stupid comments just to get their post count up.

So are yall talking about who will be the first to put a 10 in the center of the deck, or just in the deck period. I think Steve has us beat with those two 12"s. But I'm definitely going for the 10 in the center. Hopefully by the end of the month. My Jeep got stolen 3 weeks ago and that led me to have to get a new ca. Always been a Nissan man and I've always liked the Maximas so I went and got one. Got my Jeep back this weekend and my dads gonna give me some money for it and fix the rear quarter they wrecked and give it to my brother. You can geuss where that moneys going.

Not it. You'd have to brace the crap out of the door in order to make it work. Not worth it, IMHO.

the only real good 10's I can find are the JL audio 10ib4's, and theyre hard to find. But I did find something interesting. How do you guys think these would work in an IB setup. http://marine.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?prod_id=370 Theyre marine speakers. But they seem to have good specs for IB. They have a pretty high Qt. Just for my knowledge, what is a good max excursion for an IB speaker. Thanks

eh...a 10" will definitly have some beaming issues in those doors, keeping its usable range quite narrow... I notice most that go that big incorporate them deep in the kicks...it would need one low playing midrange to pull everytrhing together i bet....it would be a nice challenge to pull it off tho

Sry, I cant start a new thread so i will go off of this one. What is a decent 8" midbass that is affordable? Does anyone live around the orlando area and have 8's in there doors? I want to see how complicated it is to set-up.
