I do not want to make a mistake
I need help. I don't know a whole lot about how subs/amps react to one another. I got a pretty basic, simple set up. 1 mono channel amp pushing 1 10 inch sub. I was showing a co-worker and he advised that since my sub had dual voice coils, that I should connect the voice coils together instead of using just one set. Will this make any difference? Will this eventually damage the speaker and or amp? Should I not try to fix something that is not broken?

The only thing you have to be conserned about there is if your amp is stable at that ohm rating. Like if your sub is a dual 4ohm voice coil and you wired them together you would be running the amp at 2ohms.
Pluses:
Better clerity, IMO.
Bass will "hit harder."
Better use of your sub/amp.
Downs:
Amp will run hotter.
I always have all my voice coils wired. I heard the difference the first time I went from using one coil to using both.

alright, maybe its just me, or no1 is paying attention.
NEVER RUN ONLY ONE COIL ON A DUAL VC SUB. its bad joo joo and your manhood will shrink. Alright maybe not but just dont do it. Wire the speaker as listed above and itll last you forever, keep using one coil itll die a young death.
