Well I just got a 2k1 Maxima SE with the $799 Bose system and have a couple of questions.

1. Is the entire system Bose or just the speakers?

2. Is it possible to get any better kick out of the stock sub in the rear deck; possibly enclose it in a box of itself?

3. I would like to swap out the stock speakers; i.e components up front and coax's in back with Polk components. Would this sound better? If so would all I have to do is a simple swap?

Thanks in advance for the help!

If you want my honest opinion, either leave the Bose alone or replace the dam thing cause adding **** to it and messing with it is pointless. Unless you have the time and the money. The head unit itself is made by Clarion and the speakers are all Bose. Always remember, with Bose, nothing will ever be "simple".

Clarion is the OEM for the Bose HU.
It is possible to design a box for that sub. But in order to get bigger and deeper thump, you'll probably need to increase power and speaker size. The total power output for the Bose system is 200W... assuming 30W per channel leaves 80 for the sub. 80Watts out of an 8" speaker isn't
all that much kick. So why not just add another box with a more powerful amp?

If you're gonna do a speaker swap, you should have tried to find an SE without the Bose. Anyways, IMO a speaker swap won't improve sound that much if at all.

A speaker swap will most likely sound worse. Mainly because your Bose speakers are 1 Ohm and most aftermarket speakers are 4 Ohm. What occurs is the increase in impedance of the new speakers will cause your Bose amplifiers to produce only 1/4 of their rated power. So if they are 20W amps they will now be producing only 5W of music power.....

If you want to replace the stock speakers with aftermarket you will need an aftermarket amplifier as well....
