Building a new sound system?
Building a new sound system?
I have cdt 61 compontents and the coax rears. My current amp that I had for my interiors was a 2 channel amp. Well I was running both my components and the coax from the 2 channel amp. The sound was ok, it was better than the bose. I dont know if there was any loss because it was turning on 4 speakers instead of 2 only. Well I need sugestions for a new amp preferably 4channels if it will give the speakers some more boost. As far as my trunk I have a dd audio 3500 10" which was powered by a concept hp1000 my box cracked open so I never really got to listen to how nice it would hit. I cracked as soon as I installed it and had it like that for a few weeks then just took it out cuz it just would give a little bump because it was broken. If you guys have heard this sub, do you think I should stay with it or go with something better.
I want a system that will give a very clear loud sound. As far as the bass also a nice deep bass I would like no distortion.
Let me know what you guys think and recommend. $ not an issue.

metals right, and that is definitely not a realistic post. Bro you can get into true hifi items costing you over 1000 for an amp and more than that for speakers (Not all just one set) so offer up a budget, what you listen to, and what youve heard that you like. from there between don, manny, metal, ascendant, and stevie someone should be able to help you.
well I mean I dont intend to go win a competition I just want it to sound real nice. If I put out a dollar amount some one might come out and say well you said 2,000 here this sub is 1000 and this amo 1000 there thats the best you can do. And it might sound real nice but in the other hand there might be something cheaper dollar wise that sound the same if not better. But I would say about 1500 bucks I think there has to be something lower than that, that would sound real nice.
thanks for the help guys

Alright, NOW you're talking.
First off, set $150 aside for some deadening. Sealing your doors and your trunk is going to be of IMMENSE benifit for the overall SQ of you system.
Are you looking to upgrade your HU as well? What kind do you have?

So, you're now at
$325 - Eclipse 8454
$150 - 80 sqft Second Skin Damplifier (doors, trunk, rear deck)
Now, what kind of music do you listen to?
lol told you
personally I would say the jl e6450, six channels and can run an entire front stage well and subs if you decide on the rear two channels with over 300 watts. Personally I say get more power on the low end, but for some 300 is plenty...for me thats for my door speakers/woofers...

Blah....
DLS A7 would run everything quite nicely.

xxx = spl ...if you're into that sort of thing.
For rock/metal an Adire Koda 12 would suit your needs, or possibly some Alumapro subs

Its also severely underrated. As well as your going by 4Ohm specs.
if you want the best and most natural sound, get a 3-way component setup for the front and only the front. Nothing in the rears, not even a sub, it's not necessary (just drowns out the vocals and instruments). You want all the sound in front of you, just like it would be at a concert.
So far, I like where Metal is steering you the best. I don't think for you a three way front is necessary. Three way front helps with efficiency, depth, and most importantly driver and passenger imaging. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that imaging isn't the most important thing to the original poster.
I'd agree ditch rear speakers and stick with the front.
I'd go MORE than 150 on deadening.
I like the Eclipse HU's with processing for a simple system. That then opens him up to DIY/Active, which of course I like.
Ascendants right, you are gonna want a sub. You don't have to go crazy or anything. I put a modest system in a buddies car this weekend with one 10" sub that cost 130 and it was MORE than enough for him and sounded great (Dayton Reference).
Above and beyond that, get "decent" reliable amps (the A7 would certainly fit into that boat) and listen to as many speakers as you can to decide whose tonal characteristics you like.
Also, some chose to do it themselves, some don't. If you do, read alot and learn. If you choose to have someone else do it, search search search for the right installer because that can play a big difference as well and put aside money for that decent install.
If you go with the Eclipse or some system that can be tuned, then find somebody that knows how to tune and hear all that your system is capable of.....
