i have two 10" JBLs running off the factory bose system, it sounds decent for now, until i redo the whole system. my question is that my stock bose head unit has an intermittent display and cd player takes many tries to get it to play. i think the laser needs to be aligned. about the display, has anyone had this problem, how was it fixed, and how much $$?? dont wanna break the bank yet, stereo isnt getting done till probably the fall.

thanks, Hall

many times the bose system just dies. try unplugging your battery and reconnecting it. sometimes this will work. but a majority of the time its just bose. the unit probably needs to be replaced i would suggest just buying a new aftermarket radio. it isnt worth fixing it.

Go aftermarket HU!!!

Just replaced the "CD Err" Blose with a SONY HU. Sound much better than Blose. Though the original Blose is pretty good, the aftermarket one is even better.

how are you running subs off of your bose head unit??? i know there's a box you can buy that allows you to do it but it's like 350.00 cause my brother in law had 1 in his 03. he tried talkin me into it and i just put a new pioneer in mine.

Bose uses low level outputs from the HU to the amp(s). You do not need ANY adapter to tap signal for your amps to power subs.

I had the same problem and I put a new HU in my 97, and now I have no sound!

New HU starts up fine and plays, but nothing comes out of the speakers, not even a pop or crackle. I wired all the speakers up, and even if I wired something wrong I should be getting some sound... I don't get it.

OK, so it's looking like I either have to buy something to bypass the individual amps on the speakers, or put new speakers in, is that correct?

If so, how much does it cost do bypass? I have some extra speakers, just not sure if they'll pump as good as the bose.

theres a few options:
after market HU + scosche or some other adapter (basically 2 x 2 channel line in convertver)
this way you don't have to get a new amp, i did this in my old maxima sound quality is fairly decent actually.
Another is to get a sound processor and send the signal to the stock amp, this works well too.
Or get a new HU + new AMP as well.

Is it really worth the money to keep the Bose? Even when mine was working ok it still wasn't great sounding.
