Quite frankly, I think you are all missing the point of the sub. It is made just because they can, and no one else has. Remember back in the day when David Navone and Richard clark built a 6' diameter subwoofer to crush everything out there? It was different, and no else had it. This is the same thing. Remember when no one had HLCD's under the dash? Remember when Mark Fakuda was the only vehicle to hit 160 DB? Everyone wants to push the limits. Why knock MTX for doing something different? I don't really like the main line from MTX, but I fully support them pushing the boudaries. No, this sub is not for you. No, this is not the best $12K you can spend. Yes, this is cool, and if you could afford one, and you bought one, nobody at the next show you went to would have the same set up as you. How many people had a JL sub at the last show you went to? Do you get it yet?

just found something interesting out.
1 horsepower = 746 watts

so that means that that sub can handle more than 13 hp
