aftermarket speaker install

2001 Maxima:

Ok I read all the stickies about speaker install but it didn't answer my question sorry if it's a repost but I'm in a hurry and it's cold outside.

Very simple installing pioneer panel speakers but it seems as I turn the volume up it get's distorted. So I thaught I had mixed up the + & - but both wires supply power. I have 220 watt speakers.

thanks...freddy boom

Sounds to me that your new aftermarket speakers are not getting enough power. Are you still using the factory HU?

Wow.

Check this stuff out here, man...if you don't have enough money to get a full-out system yet, there are a number of midbass drivers that will serve as a more aoffdable means of temporary replacement.

simply put, your stock head unit does not have sufficient power to properly amp those speakers. once you turn the volume up, they distort.

Why don't you tell us what you've already purchased. You're not giving us much to work with here.

no, keep your speakers if you wish. just get an external amp or upgrade your head unit.

I got 4 Pioneers 220 and a MTX Thunder204 amp. This is gong in my daily driver.
I read that I won't be able to use the stock HU with an external amp but I can see that actually I can, I'll figure it out on my own tomorrow but any suggestions will help before I come back here with another dumb question.
thanks guys for the help now that my 4thgen is going going gone I'm driving the 01 max and I'm not supposed to touch it but I can't help it it's anyoing gotta have bass.
Two weeks Untill I get my Muscle Machine
