most bass w/o a sub
i really got sick of having a sub in my trunk so i took it out,
just wanted to know what kind of speakers that would fit in the stock locations of the maxima (i have a 96 - 4th gen) and give me the most thump w/o having a box in the back.
a component system would offer the most bass? some one please advise me
thanks!

Those or some of the Tang Band 6.5 "subs"..of course if you're going to do that, it's not really hard to upgrade and squeeze some 8's, 10's or even 12's back there in teh rear deck IB (without a box). I know it seems drastic to some but it's not really that.

You will not get bass like a sub out of any speaker smaller than an 8 inch. And that probably not unless you have it setup right.
If you invest in the right speakers/amp combo's you can pull off some good midbass. With the right x-over frequencies you can amplify the right frequency's and pull off what you're looking for.

sorry ok, well i was thinking bout getting 4 replacement speakers (im fine with my denon tweeters) and amp the 4 speakers if anything.
im willing to spend $400-500 at most ... so $100 each speaker? hehe
and also for a 'budget' version of $200...

Mb quart's can produce nice clean midbass when x-over'd properly. Diamond, Rainbow, Dls, Dynaudio, Focal, there's a good amount of speakers that can be used for very good midbass response. Frequencies between 80/100-400 hz are what you want to work on. Anything below 80 hz is subwoofer territory.

Yes thats the eu-700 those are verywell priced. Most people on this board though will say to stay away from Elemental Designs. That budget for just speakers would be okay but for a 4 channel amp and 4 speakers you're looking at more like the $700-800 range AT LEAST.

oohh... i dun like the sound of drilling. how much drilling would have to be done?
what are the speaker sizes for just 'drop in' installations?
6.5" in the front AND rear?
the eu-650 will drop right in, correct?
