hey im buying my mom a remote starter for her 2000 maxima for christmas. People at her work have told her not get one cuz they hurt your ignition and now shes all worried about it. i want to make sure its safe for the car before i buy it for her. also i work ar best buy and we get products at cost and half off install. how hard is the install, the guy there told me 5 hours. that seems alil far fetched. how hard is it DIY???

if you dont really like wires and electrical stuff, i would NOT DIY...there are a lot of wires. I feel im average in that field, my first time installing the 791xv was very long, i had circuit city guys helping me out ( i used to work there). since it is for your mom i wouldnt risk it. you may run into problems that would then result in more doubt in your moms eyes... good luck!

all a remote start does is mimic turning the key in an ignition.its not gonna effect anything if the install is done right.

There is absolutely no harm whatsoever with a remote start. WHoever put that in her head should be smacked.
