iPods and Maximas?

Sorry if its a repost...but I have a question . I have a 4th gen ,and today for Christmas got an iPod . My ? is whether there is a way to wire an input jack in a 1995 Bose system. My gut says this is not gonna happen , but I have to ask, cause I'll feel stupid If I don't ask and it turns out to be a simple mod.

Thanks..

I am not sure if this can be done or not, but if not it is a perfect time to upgrade to something with an auxillary input .

You can add an aux input to the bose. Check the stickies. I believe it is a prett involved process, but doable. If not you could always get a Belkin tunecastII that allows you to play it through your fm stations. I just so happen to have a couple sets. THey sell for $50+ in the stores. 25 shipped for mine. Anyways, bottom line, you can do it.

Just have the same issue and hoping to figure out something better then the FM modulator. The fix to add an set of RCA inputs sounds good but a little over my head.

I would think there is something out there that allows you to hardwire through the CD changer inputs, for BOSE stereos atleast.

So I guess this is another bump for the Audio Gods to help us out with.

I believe that is the only one available.

But for $100, I would spend another $100-200 and get a BETTER THAN BLOSE HU that has aux inputs already available.

Yes the $100-200 more for a good head unit, but then you have to deal with changing all the speakers because of the Bose system.

Unless I am missing something I thought you had to replace the speakers because they each have their own amp and are 1ohm.......

If that is the case then you are up to $600-800 easily......

Only thing I saw there was post #205

I don't know if page 7 has the answers but it looks like if you use the PAC then it should work, however it does seem that the guy posting on that page was having some problems with it.

Back to reading some more........

The problem the guy was having was that his gains were configured incorrectly, leading to distortion. Plenty of people use them with no problems

im actually going to bite the bullet and try out the soundgate in a couple weeks, i found it for cheaper than 100 bucks...on a side note, some dont want to change their HU because of theft...that's my reason, i've already changed out all my speakers and everything. I'd only want a LCD screen with navi anywyas...but i guess that is just preference i dont like double dins. ill post a new thread once its in.

Let us know how it works. I would really rather pay $100 to get it working right and keep it stock then pay $400 and up for a new Head Unit.

Because I know if I end up buying a HU then I am going all out and will prob end up putting a system back in the car, something I don't want to do and tired to stay away from with this car........

Hopefully this is an easy fix because that damn tape player adapter and the FM modulater sucks my left nut

Eliminate PAC

Would it be possible to eliminate the PAC by using the inputs for the factory tape player? 2004 Max

Does anyone use cassettes anyways?

Also is the tape unit a component part of the head unit/cd changer? Or would it be possible to remove it entirely? The location looks just right for the relocation of the info screen when I add the carputer.

Any help would be appreciated?

Thank you!

Where did you find that for a lower price?

I have an Infiniti QX4 and I want to avoid the fm modulator.

My only concern is that I have a built in 6 disc changer. I think it still plugs into the back of the HU as if it were seperate. I would just stop using the disc unit.

I had a tape adapter in my '95 and it worked wonders.... really miss the BOSE system in the 4th gens... the stock bose in the 5th gens are absolute doggie doodoo.

Trust me just stick with the tape adapter, it's an inexpensive fix to a relatively little problem. Just make sure you hide the ipod when not in the car!

Yeeaah boy! Now I aint gotta burn 100 CD's to listen to the same songs in the car!

I only have abouit 100 songs on the 30G video iPod right now, so doing the work is not a major priority right now.

The fact that I wont be able to drive the Max when I go back to school also might have something to do with it.

BTW, I'm in the Gurnee area, about 1 1/2 hrs north of the City.
