which coaxials to get?

should I get the MB QUART DKC116 2-way coaxials or the DIAMOND AUDIO D361i D3 2-way coaxials.

The specs for the MB quart are:

4 Ohm Impedence
90 db Sensitivity
FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 40-32,000 HZ
RMS power: 60 watts
6.5" Midrange driver / 0.5" tweeter

The specs for the Diamond Audio are:

4 ohm impedence
Sensitivity: 91 db
Frequency Response: 54-20,000 Hz
RMS Power: 60 watts
6.5" Midrange driver / 1" tweeter

Both systems are rougly the same price. Any ideas? I'm leaning towards the Diamond Audios, but I just wanted the advice from the gurus. Thanks.

going by the numbers alone the mb quarts look better except the tweeter is considerably smaller

I'm sure you probably already know this but even a decent set of component speakers beats the hell out of a really good set of coaxials. For the same money or slightly more, why not spring for some good comps?

The DAs are a bit nicer for my tastes. Ive never been a fan of MBQ, just to harsh for my ears.

+1 on the above comments. DA is what I'd pick.

Cause MBQ thinks bigger numbers sell more products. Either that or they are focused towards dog lovers.

exactly, and going down to 40hz does nothing for a mid bass.

why? i thought that the human ear can hear from 20-20,000 Hz. So wouldn't you hear a difference from 54 to 40?

A midbass can't reproduce that sound well enough for it to be useful, the frequencies =<~80 should be ran through a subwoofer. Congrats on your epiphany ElVito.

6.5" coaxial= midbass only. sub 50hz= subwooferage only.

actually the 6.5 coaxial is 2-way, meaning it's a tweeter and a midrange driver, not a midbass. But thanks for the advice; I'm gonna go with the Diamond Audios.

What slickrick means is that the best the coax is going to do is reproduce midbass, not subbass. That was the question you asked, that is what he responded to. You didn't ask about the higher frequencies.

+1. I know what coaxials do. what i meant was the midbass (not the attached tweeter) should be used at about 50hz and up...although i run mine at 80 and up.
