Poor sound quality from aftermarket stereo
Poor sound quality from aftermarket stereo
I installed an Alpine 9860, JL audio e4300 4 channel and a set of Alpine Component Type-R's in the front and Type-S's in the back deck, and it is not loud enough.
I have to max my deck out at 35 which is the max on the alpine deck and the stock bose system was louder.
Does anyone have an idea?

I have the amp installed under the passenger seat.
Could the heat vent affect it?
The gains are about set half way. I turned them up all the way when i 1st noticed the problem but it didnt make MUCH of a difference. ( the volume went up, but not by much.)
BTW circuit city did the install and used the factory bose wiring for the speaker wire.

I see things have not changed at CC. The one time a paid to get an amp installed it was by them. Not only did I have to rewire my stuff, I had to go back to get the actual RCA's I paid for. They gave me the cheapest ones.

How do we know its not the amp?

I would check to see if they managed to wire the speakers in the correct polarity. If they used the stock wiring, it would be fairly easy to wire a couple in reverse. If the amp has an impedance switch make sure it's correct. Make sure there are no hi or low bypass settings on.
