Oh yeah I thought about that, but then it comes back to the tool issue. I didn't have the tools to do it so I got a trusty staple gun and went wit that for now. I'm sure I'll be changin it up again. At least I think it looks better than it did.

You could even make a full size board to cover the whole thing as long as air can escape from above it will look like there is no amp there at all and probably be cleaner looking.

Did the guy on eBay ever get back with you on the amp rack?

I never followed up with him, just figured I could do it myself, just put the finishing touches on it when I got home tonight, kind of surprised myself. It turned out pretty good!! Pearl96Max let me know what you think of my rookie work. Unlike Ryals rack I made mine so it fit inside the little cubby on the side, that way I still have my cargo net hooks and it looks a bit cleaner. I drilled holes in the wood and ran the wires through for a clean look, I just need to find some 90 degree RCA's so they won't stick out like a sore thumb!!

Here's a pic..

wow that looks very clean! and some 90* RCA's will definately make it look even cleaner.

any decent home audio place will have those 90* RCA's.

J you show off...... lol. It looks real nice though, very clean. Thats what I was hoping the guy would do for me but oh well. Watch out though when i get my tools I'm coming for ya!

Is that the right side of the trunk?

So is it removable? Screwed Down?

Thanks man, like I said I surprised my self and it only cost me about $10!!
Yes it's the right side and I didi realize that the jack is under there but it won't fit under my car anyways, that's what AAA is for. I cut it so it fits really snug in there plus I added velcro all around the edges so it's pretty good, we'll see if it moves in the next couple of days (I put the side net in front of it for now to catch it if I have a problem...

And not sure about the RCA's yet, I'll figure something out!!

I don't know if 90* rca's will look any better than these. In that location it will take some odd placement of them to look much if any better than what these look like. Good job!

No, I think the angled would work because the wire coming out would go straight into the hole in the panel and barely be noticeable.
If I got something like this I think it would look sweet.

Oh yeah, thanks!

I have the first box made. I went a couple of weeks ago and let him use my car for the prototype. I just haven't put it in my car yet. Here are some pics from that day.

I have other pics of the box just sitting in my garage. I might put the subs in the box tomorrow and take some pics.

According to his website, the box is not on there yet.

Looks good, doesn't seem to fit the cutout as well as the 6th gen model.

It appears that it's upside-down in that pic.

It is not upside down.

The 5.5 gen trunk is off-center becuause of the gas tank on the drivers side. Before the front panel was put on, the box was centered. Then we had to figure out how to make a custom looking front while keeping the box centered.

The passenger side of the trunk is about 5-6 inches longer than the drivers side. It would have looked really weird having one side longer than the other so we had to compensate for it.

The trunk opening is also smaller that than the 6th gen. That was another thing that came into play with the design. I have to manuever the box to get it in.
