subs firing forward?

alright, so i re did my entire setup today, and tryed pointing the subs forward, as i figured it is out of phase. My question is if i put a board and seperate the speakers from the rest of the trunk will this fix the problem. i have heard that it will i just want to verify. i also applied sound deadening, needless to say i need a whole lot more. The amp i finally chose was the new Concept cd2410 2410 watts @ 1ohm. Man this amp really pushes these TI's and the sound is much more pure than my old kenwood. however there is so much rattling it is crazy.

does no one have any useful input? the question is if i face the subs forward and basically build a wall behind the box do you think it would make the bass sound better.

it'll get louder...but sealing off the trunk is damn important. sq would go up a bit as well.

Back when I had my '91 Accord, I tried to front fire the subs. I had much less bass output than when they were rear-facing. I don't know how much the wood would affect bass response, but you could try it.

When I had my 2 12" solobarics I liked them firing forward, but I also removed everything between the trunk and the folding middle seat. So the subs were firing right through the middle opening and it sounded better than rear firing. I plan on running my IDMAX 12" the same way, Im only gonna be running one, but I'll be giving it about 1000watts rms @ 2 ohms.

I ran my Adire Koda 10 forward-facing, and plan on running two Alumapro Alchemy RXs th same whay when I get them. My brother also tried this with his JL 12W6 and went forward facing...it's all a atter of personal preference

well, i feel pretty certian that if you do the same front firing setup with that 1 12 solobaric unless you seal everything off behind the sub, that you will find that the sound is canceling itself and does not sound good at all, at least that is what i have found to be true.

The sound shouldnt cancel itself unless it is a free air setup. I think what your noticing is a lack of lower end response that you can feel sometimes when the sub is faced back towards the trunk. I face my sub facing the right side of the trunk, and it is mounted in the driver rear 1/4 panel, I really love the results I get from this setup. It has never let me down.

If you're going to foreward fire them, you need to sompletely seal it off from the trunk. I have a foreward firing box, using the rear speaker holes as ports, and the sub sits in the rear armrest area. This got twice as loud as it was when it was rear firing, and there are no rattles. If you have any questions, i'd be glad to help.
