Aftermarket car audio install

I have just gutted my max and installed aftermarket audio and video equipment. Its starting to all come together but i have found that when you take the stock cd player and tape deck out you loose your system functions. Let me explain better, I cannot access any of my settings, not the gas milage not any of the settings that used to be able to. All that is displayed on the display and works is the climate control. This is a non nav 2005 se. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All!!!

This is a shot in the dark but maybe you need to take it back and see if they disconnected the wrong wires. I see alot of guys on here with there aftermarket stereos. I haven't heard them say anything about the problem you have. I'm quite sure on of the guys will chime in here and give you some advice for what they did. Try doing a search I did read about the pac system that helps with some of the factory controls. I hope you get it solved though.

LOLOL.......somthing like that. I istalled a double din unit and tried to move the screen but since i had to operate on the stock pannel i had to move the screen back up. Its really weird, i wasnt sure if the stock unit had somthing to do with it.

That is weird, it should be plug and play, minus the stereo functions. I've never had any problems...
Is it possible that you some how cut or damaged the plug somehow while doing your install? Could have broken the wire somewhere??
Sorry can't be more help!

This wouldn't have anything to do with the PAC-SWI adapter would it? I'm not sure if this applies to the 6th gen or in this case even. On 5.5 gens, our trip controls on the steering wheel needs this adapter to make it work again.

The one on the left is a current draw gauge for my amps. The other is a battery meter for the three extra batteries it will take to power everything once its complete. I searched all over for a pair of gages with blue display, auto meter and dakota digital had them but were way too expensive. So i did a search on the net and came accross "e gauges" great site and cheap too! Did a little glass work to mount them and poof! Thanks for the compliment. Keep cruisin!

I have a 04 Max and I installed a Pioneer pop out LCD and I can't get the Pac-SWI to work I followed all the instructions I think, unless any one has it done and would be able to take a snap of it so i can make sure i connected right, but for some reason the stereo does not go up in volume or any of the functions its supposed to do. Can any one help?

Favs..i have not worked with the Pac-SWI. I have totally gutted and replaced every speaker and audio visual piece in the car and ran all new cables and wire. I know that the are some impedance problems when it comes to using the stock bose speakers with an aftermarket H/U. Are you sure the Screen isnt defective? I will check it out on the net and see if i cant get you an answer.

The screen is fine everything else works just fine, the one problem is making the steering wheel work with the aftermarket stereo, Its a non bose stereo so it should be some what easier. But The Pac-SWI seems like it recognizes when i program the commands but after that the stereo seems not to recognise the command from the pac. So i don;t know what to do now. I may beleive to just leave it at that and just forget about the steering wheel controls and not use them. That may be the best bet.

There is no way!!!!!!!.there is about 4 inches of depth, then you run into a 3 an a half inch tube........that would be the front body support. No way around it other than to install the double din like i did, take out all the stock stuff and very carfully cut the double din hole in the front face. The double din nav does fit perfect after you take out the stock equipment. Hope this helps and please feel free to ask if you need any other questions answered.

Keep crusin,
Chef

Favs, I gotcha now!!!!!.i am blonde so it takes me a few to get it. To be honest, i dont know!!!....SORRY man. I did hear that if you wear dark clothes that it wouldnt work because dark clothes absorb the IR transfer, i know it sounds weird but its true. Just a thought for ya.

Anyone know what type of CDs will display Track Title or Disc Title on the non-Bose system? This is an option on the audio display, haven't found any of my CDs that will display this info.

Meyer84....I dont think anything will go up there except a raw screen, i went through all the different audio manufatures to check dimensions and non of them were even close. But you are right clarion was less deep than everyone else. i even considered taking apart a NVIC1 and mounting just the screen in there but was not cost effective, thus i went with a double din and i am doing all fabrication myself.

Hey I have the Non-Bose system on my 05
When i put in a CDR that has the track titles on them they come up on the screen. There is also a setting that has to be changed if you want the TRACK, TRACK TITLE, or CD TITLE to be displayed

Hate to sound stupid, but how will Nero add things that aren't on the original CD? I believe the non-Bose system will not play MP3's????

I have some original CD's, not all, that show the title and track, so it depends on the CD. Not just non-Bose system, our stock system does not play MP3.
