power relay necessary?

I plan to tap my bose system just before the bose amp to add an amp/sub. Using a Hi-Lo for the signal and the oem remote for my amp remote (blue wire).

It was suggested that I use a relay when tapping the remote. Can anyone clue me into what I need? I was just going to cut and splice with a butt connector (1 in 2 out).

for the Hi-Lo should I just tap it from the inputs at the amp, or splice before?

Looking at ebay for: 12ft 4awg wire, 4awg connectors, 4-4awg gold terminals, hi-lo convertor, 100 amp circuit breaker, and rca cables. I prefer to deal with orgers when possible, feel free to email me. Also interested in lightweight sound deadener.
thanks guys.

I know that in a 5th gen it's suggested to add a relay for the remote turn on. I don't have the wiring diagram off hand though.

I don't know how far you are from Edison, but I suggest making the trip up to see Don for your system. It will be well worth the trip and you know the work will be nothing short of top-notch.

I could always pass it off to one of my employees.

When using a factory turn on, I would recommend it.

Standard SPDT relay..

87 = Constant 12V
86 = Ground
85 = remote IN from radio
30 = remote OUT to amp(s)

thanks, that clears it up for me. I assume using my distribution block for my amp will be safe to use for the relay's constant 12V?

If you relay will be in your trunk, or wherever your dist block will be.
