Help Audio Gurus

I searched the stickies and links provided for all audio questions. I already searched on http://bcae1.com for my question, but not quite clear about it yet. My setup is of two 12" subs powered by 1200 watt amp. I want to know wht is the best setup for the gain control, subsonic filter, bass boost, and lowpass x over? I contact Phoenix gold to get there specifications and advice, but no answere yet. Here are the settings i can play with
  • Gain 8-.2
  • Bass boost 0-18dB at 45 Hz
  • Subsonic filter 5Hz-55Hz adjustable at a 24dB per octave slope
  • Lowpass X over 30Hz-300Hz adjustable at a 24dB per octave slope
:
I just want to set it up to the right setting to avoid hurting my subs or amp.
PLZ HELP..

well good job on telling us what you have. now down to business. no bass boost under any circumstance. due to your boxes being sealed, the SSF is not needed. now for the LPF it depends on your interior speakers and what you want from the sub. I would start at 80hz and see if you like it, if not work your way to down 50hz. I run mine at 80 and I enjoy it. (rememeber to set the h/u LPF at 80 also)the gain needs to be set based on a # of things...
1. turn off all loudness features on the pioneer TV
2. keep all the "bass" settings on 0 on the h/u adjustments
3. setting the gain is based upon how high you play the radio. lets say it goes from 0-40 on the volume...if your interior speakers can handle it, I would set it between 28-30 (the highest you play any song would be these numbers). moreover, I would put the subcontrol on the radio to about +4 this way you have some play to ad or remove bass from songs if need be. now once you do this, get a bass heavy song (IE ying yang twins) and put the radio volume to 28-30 and listen for distortion, once you hear distortion turn down the gain a tad. there are more in depth methods to set gains but this is how I have done it and I have never blown a speaker, amp, sub, etc.
