Your thoughts on Jl 10w3v2s?

Well I found a guy who has a pair and is willing to do 175 shipped. Seems like a pretty nice deal to me. I just havent heard the new w3s, I have heard the old models and I assume they are very similar. Also il be needing an inexpensive amp if I can find one for a good price. Seems like a saw someone on here post a jl amp they had for sale but I cant find the thread. Well if you have any info on these let me know. Thanks

its not a bad deal but for the price you can find better subs that are new.

Well ive heard that a lot and I know jl makes quality stuff because its about all thats sold in the town I live in. I also know they are pretty expensive new so I figured I would jump on it since it seemed like a good deal. What subs can I get new for 90 a piece that will perform as well and dont require big boxes?

i had 2 12w3v2's in my car for about 45 minutes, u do the math...JL is so over rated IMO. i dont want to turn this into another anti JL thread but i was extremely dissapointed with the w3's i went from my alpine type r's to the w3's and the w3's were weak sauce to the max

I've used JL subs for over 12 years and have been quite pleased in that time (but that's just one opinion from someone who likes to waste money)

3 year warranty too.

I like JL subs but if $ is an object, then I'll pass on them like Randal El did tonight!

the 10w3v2s are absolutely amazing they have a nice tight bass response. But of course people that Sell different products will encourage you to buy what they have. So they will put down Jl AUDIO i dont know why but thats the way it is. I have listened to ARC audio stuff and i dont think that they are as good as JL but they are well above average amplifiers and subwoofers. But jl audio provides you with great sounding woofers with minimal distortion levels, and absolutely perfect amplifiers with no flaws in them at all. I love their crossovers, not too many amps have the crossovers like JLAUDIO.

ugh oh...I feel a certain member of this forum may disagree on the "perfect amp statement" along with me.

The 10W3v2 isn't a bad sub. I don't have a clue on how much a pair go for new, but $175 doesn't seem like a bad deal. Figure out what your goals are. If you want to beat down the neighbrohood block and be the loudest and baddest dude there....they are the wrong subs. If you are looking for something decent for the drive to work, go for it

I did notice that lots of people say "buy from Don, he's the grooviest ". Arc makes really good stuff, but I've never had the opportunity to mess with the ACS set of components.

JL amps and subs are nice, but they aren't the end of car audio. Maybe thats why they get a bad rep sometimes. The statement you said about "perfect amps" is FAR from the truth. And what is so special about thier crossover?

Oh, and if you haven't had a chance to mess with thier XR set of components...try them. You'll want to return them to your dealer once you are finished Probably some of the worst set of components I've ever listened to.

What Arc products have you auditioned that left you thinking they're inferior to JL?

and I want to hear about this JL amp that is "flawless"...

If they sound good to you, then keep buying them, each persons ears are different and your still young.

I sold JL for many years, even had their amps in my car on dealer accomodation and can still pick the line back up at anytime. It has Nothing to do with what I carry that puts a bias on my recommendation.

Perfect amplifiers??? Compared to what? I personally prefer an UNregulated powersupply as most would agree. Id also like to have issue free FM reception. Their amps lasted about a week in my car before I Gave them away.

Honestly just go with the best stuff you can find for your budget. I wouldn' go J/L because of the price, and I got a great deal on my Arc amp when I bought it so I'm not complaining.

subs do not care if their amp is from the same brand...there is no blood relation. IMO I would not pay over $200 for the 500/1 and thats a liberal amount of $ for it I think.

Well im set on the box thats made for the 6th gen trunk so they are gonna be sealed. The guy said make him a reasonable offer on the 500/1. They seem to go on ebay for 250-300 used so I guess I could offer him 225-250?

the only thing that is nice about the jl 500/1 is the ability to produce the same power at 1.5-4 ohms...but even still I have read it still does a lil more power at lower impedences. moreover, if you are buying used you can get 500 watts for way under $200 that will be as solid as that jl amp IMO.

I rather do a new Diamond Audio D3 setup if you are on a budget (apparently since you are buying used)....and have more power

Exactly what a regulated power supply will do. Nothing special there, Id perfer the flexibility of a UNregulated one Any day. JL gets no bragging rights for that in my book.

BTW thats 1.5-4Ohm, not 1-4. Theyve also been tested a few times to perform at rated power anyway.

the JL amp being able to use 1.5-4 ohms is nothing special at all...its not that popular for a reason.

actually phoenix gold is 1-4 ohms since i own one i think i would know. FOr me the ohmload is a big deal because i like having a flexible amp. Leaves more room for upgrades with out purchasing a new amp. What if one of the wires on your subs falls out ??? Their done right not with these amps. Because u know that the amps can handle just about any ohmload and wont risk your subs.
