Im not a Huge fan of aluminum either, but some drivers have changed my mind on that. CF leaves a "hollow" sound to me, maybe due to the fact they technically arent a complete cone..

Rich also bear in mind the Rainbow CAL25 tweet is one of the most sought after and one of the primary things that put Rainbow on the map in the US.

What kind of price range is the 8 inch version? That is a very intriguing set.

The kit lens has a minimum focus distance of 11.4"
if it's having troubles focusing, switch to manual focus, or switch the AE/AF point (on the back panel, the very top right silver button... doubles as the magnify in button when you are reviewing pictures. push it once, rotate the top rotary **** next to the shutter to select the AF point and either hit the button again or just hold the shutter button half way down).

you can use extension tubes to decrease the minimum focus distance if you want to get really close
