Installing new HU in 02' MAX..can i still use the steering wheel controls??

Installing new HU in 02' MAX..can i still use the steering wheel controls??

ok, so heres the scenario.

i have an 02 max w/ BOSE no navi....i have alot of music on mp3 disc and I am replacing the factory HU with a sony mp3 HU. i want to know if I can still use the steering wheel controls someway or somehow??...and if not, will the trip mode button still work?? any input/help is appreciated.

you can get the PACSWI-x to get your steering controls back and follow this to get your trip computer controls back.

I personally hav ethe Eclipse AVN-5435 so I can use the PAC SWI-ECL which controls eclipse headunits specifically w/o the need for an infrared repeater.

does this adapter work for aftermarket HU's??....how much??...also, if i ground that trip monitor, is that all i need to do to use that specific function??..(i.e. can i only use that button and not use/have the other vol,track change buttons working?)

yeah it's meant for aftermarket headunits...and I already listed the model number. PAC SWI-X

Yeah if you ground the trip monitor wire you get that button back.

If you get an Eclipse unit, you can get the PAC-ECL which is an interface unit HARDWIRED for Eclipse. No transmitters, no programming. It's a piece of cake and works beautifully. The same can't be said with the SWI-X, which is moody.
