Finally started on audio in the 6th gen

here's a pic of the test fit with the amps and sub my friend and I did today. pretty much will go across the width of the trunk, and the two arcs on either side. still needs some minor adjustments, carpet, etc. we're gonna snap some more (and better) pics later. what you guys think?

still debating if i want to invert the sub like in the pic, or mount it 'normally'.

only thing is, i don't know where/how i'm going to run the wire to the sub while maintaining a 'clean' look if i invert it.

Thats why you go with a nice 8 or 10 gauge for speaker wire. Go to a local shop and just feel'm up to see which has the flexibility and clean look you like. Then a tight as s hole in the top of it, siliconed in. Is the area above the sub ALL part of the enclosure?

nuh uh, you see the top pencil line on the two sides? that's the top edge of the box.

yeah, think i'll visit some shops aroud here and see what i can use for speaker wires. more strands = more flexibility correct?

Nice. If you want a clean look you shouldnt invert them. If you want to show off however...flip it over.

looks good, but if the sub is mounted invertedly, you might regret it later on when you may need trunk space.

btw how does the sound differ when mounted in that position compared to it mounted normally?

I believe you get a good bit more bass like that. Might be in my head though but I think it sounds better inverted.

tisk tisk you know better...you have more internal airspace with it inverted which=more low end.

That's gonna look really good either way you mount it. Are you going to have to take out the box out to access the amps?

for one of the amps, i can access the crossovers, etc on top. but for the other amp, getting to the amp's controls might be a bit difficult. i think i'll just tweak it before mounting it. i just need to lower the back seats to get to them.

thanks

although more credit should go to my friend.

Don, those two foam strippings of foam behind the 1500, can i remove that? or did you put that there for a reason? it's kinda of a tight squeeze to fit it into its mount.

I'm guessing the foam was there to allow the fan to breathe underneath the amp when mounted. I would suggest you take them off, but ensure that you make cutouts on the inner board so the amp fans can pull in outside cooler air to cool things off.

but there's no fan inside the 1500.

i want to take them off, but i was curious why Don put them there in the first place.

There isn't??? 1 ohm stable and no fan?? Interesting, anyways I would suggest just removing them, my next guess is its since he had all his amps mounted one in front of the other in the old setup \\\ <-- like that

nope, no fan. and the amp gets medium warm at best even after hours of playing...

yeah, if i remove it, i can slide it into its mount without risking scratching the logo.

You can take it off, that was there when they were in my Accord "leaning" on one another...

little update. the panel is now carpeted to match the trunk. a large slot is cut above the sub cutout to hopefully help with the bass being vented into the cabin since the baffle might block the output. the baffle is designed to fit the width, height, and contour of the trunk.
