The sound in my Max sucks severely. I recently upgraded the factory speakers, which gave me better highs and slightly better lows (it's all relatively) but the sound is still lacking.
I listen to a lot of Rap, R&B and Jazz music.

I know of an audio expert (the guy who installed my speakers) whose advice I trust. He's almost sold me on the idea of saving up for an amp and subwoofer (which seem like a necessity for a decent sounding system).
Here's what he would have me pay for (installed - by him):

Hifonics Zeus 700 Amp $420 (installed)
Subwoofer in sealed box $160 (installed - not sure which brand).

I don't have much money to spend so I was considering opting for a 2 channel amp instead... I've seen Foxgate and other notable brands for around $150 (2 channel). Would a 2 channel amp delivery adequate sound?

Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Get a 4-channel amp to power the front-door speakers and the sub.

I agree with Micah. A 4 channel amp will give you enough power to run your front speakers adn a single subwoofer. Your rear speakers can be then powered from the headunit sufficiently for a little rear fill. If your contact can get you a good deal on other HiFonics look at the Zeus Z440.

The Z700 would allow you to amplify all the speakers though and up to 2 subs if you wanted to.

Canuck and Micah are correct. You can get a 4 Channel or 5 channel amp and run your entire system off of it. Initially, I was getting an a/d/s 6 channel with a/d/s components and 1 JL Audio 12W3. In your case, you might want to take a gander at a few other brands like DEI, JBL, or Earthquake as far as amps are concerned.

THANKS

Thanks for the advice and suggestions... I think I'm going to go with the Hifonics Z700 Amp and 12" Sub. I'm sure there may be better Amps out there, but my friends giving me a good deal (slightly better than his first quote) and he swears by the quality of the Hifonics Amps (which he will replace for me if something goes wrong).

I'll let you guys know how it sounds after I have everything installed this weekend! (I can barely wait!).

Thanks

No problem. You shouldn't be disappointed HiFonics amps are very good value and are very reliable.
