Technically speaking its possible. Although if its a pair of identical speaker just with different configuration, I dont see it being a problem. It certainly has been done beofre to achieve a certain load in multi driver setups.

subs i've have are both rockford he2, again one is dual 2ohm the other is dual 4ohm, 400rms, 800max.

 

Pearl is correct, you'd get some weird ohmload of something like 1.33~ ohms by wiring them in parallel, which if your mono amp was 1ohm stable it would technically work, but your amp would get smokin' hot if it were HC.

 

This is where I was going Don. I would never recommend someone doing this. Between the odd ohm loads on the amp and continuously variable impedence fluxuation, I would just stay away.

I would pass personally on 2 different DVC coil configurations because t/s specs change on some subs with different coil configs...however one can argue throw t/s specs out the window when subwoofers are broken in for awhile.

 

Im not saying he should do it, just rather than it can be done with little or no adverse affects.

Whats the amp stable to? I assume 1 ohm if thats the case wire the dual two ohm sub to 4 ohms (in series) then take each coil of the dual 4 ohm sub and wire them all in parallel to the amp. The dual 4ohm sub will be louder however because it will recieve more double the power from the amp based on having two 4 ohm coils as opposed to the single 4ohm config of the dual 2ohm sub wired in series.


In my first car I had a 2 channel amp that I powered 3 subs off of. One solo baric 15, with two pioneer free airs mounted in the pass through of my backseat into the cabin. The free airs wired to 8 ohms on one channel and the sub wired 4 ohm to the other. It worked out perfectly. The 8's got about 1/2 the power of the 15 and it blended in very well. I used outboard xovers to cut off frequencies on the 8's and an additional one on the 15, it worked out very well.

 

crazy, it's possible if the amp is 1 OHM stable right? I think, o well, what do I know.

 

Ya just one speaker will be getting more power than the other based on the wiring config.
