I just finished my component install today. the wood i tried yesterday was a PIA so i figured id work with the stock housing and see what i could do. well i took the saw to it, cut out some peices and viola, perfect fit. for all of you wondering whether you can fit 6.5's in with stock houseing, the answer is yes but you need to do some work to them. but it sounds great!! now im gonna redo the pss side and use the stock housing there too, instead of the crappy wood i made yesterday.

heres the pic!

The only problem I see there is that it looks as there is a space on the top of the speaker where it attaches to the bracket. Is this what I see?

Raason I mention it is that if that's the case you could have some cancellation since that woofer doesn't look completely sealed off at this point. What can happen here is teh back pressure wave will pass through this spot and cancel out the front pressure wave. This could make the woofer not have as much bass impact.

yea, thats true. it is sort of free air on top, and thats interesting what you said about the bass. hmm, bass isnt the most important though from them, cuase my sub does that job as long as i can hear em, thats what i care about! i appreciate the info though. i was thinkgin about sealing it some how, but i dont have the matierials to do so, and the speaker was in its spot pretty firm, so i figured id just leave it.

You might not notice it if your subs are playing up around 120Hz or so. That depends on your crossover point of your sub amp. I guarantee you though that your mids will be weaker in their response in the 100-200 Hz range. If you could figure out a way to seal that up it would be alot better.....
