I have a Nikon 7600 and love it. go to my cardomain for some pics.. there is also a thread on here pretty recent about digital cams and what to get. Mine is a 7.1 megapixel, only thing I am not too fond of is the small screen, but it is a great camera with lots of options. good luck. you can get an awesome camera for 400 though. I think mine was around 250.....not sure.

ouch, I would look around more if I were you. I'm sure you can get something better for that kind of money. I'll try to find that thread a little later for you.

yeah, IMO for under 400, the canon sd 550 is hard to beat. we have one, and it takes some very clear, vivid shots. uses the digicII image processor found on the larger SLR units from canon.

I also have the A520. Good little camera. I don't need 7megapixels, cause I'm not blowing the pics up to poster size.

my mom started suggesting some others that were cheaper, its kinda hard to convince people that sometimes its better to spend more for better quality products

The pictures do look amazing. The 3x zoom kinda kills it for me. It's perfect if you are shooting relatively close to the object you will be photographing. Hopefully you wont need to take pics of something too far in the distance.
