Replacing whole Bose system
Hey, I have a question, it might have been asked before, but when i searched for it, I couldnt find much on the matter.
I'm replacing everything in my bose system with aftermarket components, and i'm wondering if I need any wiring adapters, or should I just splice the existing wires that are there. I hope I don't need any adapters (antenna come to mind).
Has anyone replaced the entire bose system without the use of a wiring adapter?
Thanks,
-Freddy

freddy, i believe you have to run all new wires..if its just the HU then you need and adapter, but if its speakers and what not, you need new wiring to run on either an aftermarket HU or amp.

You should use the nissan adapter, and new speaker wire is recommended thoguht if you trace the signal wires for the bose its not necessary. You will also need an antenna adapter. If you want I can help you with the entire install. Should'nt take more than 3 - 4 hours. Let me know.

Ya its only $7 might as well use it for simplicity. They have it at Wal-Mart. If you want to you could bring your car over and can knock everything out in one shot. I have all the tools and lots of connectors etc.

I did this on mine a couple of months ago. Yes I had Bose. For any type of headunit stuff you will need a standard Nissan headunit harness and a Nissan diversity antenna adapter. Shouldn't be more than 30 for both. The antenna adapter you have to get unless you don't care about AM/FM radio. The headunit harness you have to get, unless you want to cut off your stock harness and splice into the stock wires. Your local circuity sh!tty should have these in stock.
Plug the headunit harness in and splice it into the wires on your new headunit. Plug the antenna adapter to the stock antenna plug and connect it to your headunit.
For the speakers, take off the doors and unplug the connector and pull the amp and the stock bose speaker/tweeters out. Chop off the connector you unplugged and there should be 4 wires: 2 of them you do not use. Two will be the normal speaker leads which you will splice/crimp into to hook up your new speakers. The other two wires are +12V and ground for powering the stock Bose amps, so you don't want to accidently hook it up to those.
You don't need to run new wire. I used the stock wiring. Sounds fine to me and I've got a set of JBL studio monitors at home, so I do care about sound quality. Then I used basic home theater speaker wire (14 gauge I think?) to hook up the speakers/crossovers to the wires at the doors.
This is if you're powering the speakers off the headunit. If you get an external amplifier, sorry, I can't help ya.

You're not going to get 1000 watts out of a factory power wire.
Nor are you going to get clean sound from shtity RCAs'
