argh!! I hate Bose!!!

my '95 Max has never had a functional Bose stereo, at least not in the 4 years I've owned it. I have purchase two newer Bose HUs off e-bay that were supposedly in working order, just to find out neither one works worth a crap. One has a dysfunctional CD player (the damn ERR message) and the other only plays sound from one speaker. I finally disassembled them all and came up with a frankenstein functional unit. I was so pumped, the thing actually worked. CD player & all!!! Then after 24 hours in my car the freakin' thing quit working again!!!! Another Cd player ERR message. argh...i don't know if I want to blow them all up or just put my head under the tire and let the car roll backwards.

I know you guys are right...I should quit wasting my time on Bose HUs and go aftermarket. I almost did that before I bought this last one off Ebay, but I'm obviously an idiot and ignored my better judgement. Part of my problem is cashflow...as in I don't have enough. But I actually do like the look of the factory HUs. I know...I'm retarded.

You should have just saved the money you wasted on the bose HU's and bought a mid level eclipse/pioneer.

With the $200 I have invested in non-functional units I'd be half-way to a nice aftermarket HU. shoot me now please...

Keep in mind, however, that if you switch the head units I think you also have to switch the speakers on some of the systems...other guys here will be able to shed more light on that though. I'm still learning about our bose systems, but figured I'd give you a heads up.

You can chance your HU and keep the Bose speakers/amp. It would even sound a little bit better.

Yeah, ditto what djfrestyl said. There is a converter type thing that allows you to use an aftermarket stereo and the Bose speakers & amps. I forget exactly what it's called. Search for "Bose stereo" on ebay and they're all over the place for $40 a piece.

Thanks for letting me rant everyone. I guess we've all been there.

I may try one more thing (that's free) before trashing the Bose HUs...I've read somewhere on here that people have had luck by re-soldering all the resistors on the circuit boards. Anyone try this?

You don't even need that adapter/converter at all.
