Installing components

Hey guys. Today i decided to install my Hertz components and coaxials in my 2001 max with bose system stock. My question is, what size coaxials will fit in the back? is it 5 1/4 or 6 1/2? Because i installed my 6 1/2's fine in the front but i bought 6 1/2 in the rear but they are not fitting Just wondering what you guys done for the rears. Lastly, whats the easiest way to wire these components, i am not sure how to go about feeding the wire from the speaker into the cabin. Thanks!

I'm not too sure on this either, I had mine installed at Best Buy, and every reference was saying 6.5" in front and back. But they didn't get 6.5"s to fit, so put 5.25"s in. I have the old BOSE ones, and they are 5.25"s, so i'm not sure why it's like that.

6.5s front and back. Do yourself a favor and leave the Plastic mounts out of the car. A simple jigsaw and MDF will go a long way. Just cut new mounting rings.

Ahh. So dont bother with the plastic mounts. I need to drill new holes then dont i? Do i just mount the component directly to the frame or do i put something between it? Thanks. I am not sure if i should go 6 1/2 without the plastic mounts or 5 1/4 with the plastic mounts for the rear. What do you guys think?

Use the original factory speaker/bracket as a template. Cut the shape the same on the outside, then cut the center for the right diameter for your speakers. 6.5s are fine. Drill holes in the MDF the same as the original bracket and you can use the factory mounting points.

The easiest way to do it would be to take the grills/rings that the drivers came with and trace them. Easier than the factory ones due to them being a perfect circle. Using the factory screws also is more work than needed. Just simply make new holes preferably with a flush bit prior to screwing em in.

Gotcha. I might try that then. I was contemplating exchaging them back for a set of 5 1/4. But i guess 6 1/2 is a lot better to have?
