A/D/S Component review
Ok im going to write my opinion on the A/D/S 346cs and the 246ix component speakers. let me start off with previouse speakers i've had experience with. MB Quart premiums, All Pioneer,Kenwood, including the 25th anniversery speaker, and all Infinity speakers..
346cs component speaker

Install----
The install was very easy, the woofer is compact, nothing crazy, perfect size. The tweeter is not directional like the MB quarts so they give you a standard 90 degree ring holder and one that is about 40 degrees towards the driver. i chose the 40 degree , its not faced towards you but good enough...
they give you some good amount of slack in the wiring, but i still added about 2 feet of speaker wire to give me more freedom of mounting. since the crossover is very large. around 8 inches length x 5 inches and 1.5 inches high..
some seriouse stuff.
SOUND QUALITY--
the sound quality is sufficient, for me it did a great job, although the tweeter is abit harsh, the woofer is great, this thing can really bang. Everything is placed nicely as in drums being on the right and guitar near the left..etc... very cool.. and it can handle some big power...
conclusion_-- great speaker if you can get it at a lower price.. it retails for about $800, which i hope no one will charge you, because they most likely buy them for around $250... i think the speaker is DEFINATLY worth it if you can get it for 500 range, but not worth $800, i would rather go buy myself Q-LINE SIGNITURE speakers.
song reviews...
HIP-HOP
----6/10.. its not a "hip-Hop" speaker... well it might be that i dont have a sub. and also the fact i dont like hip-hop. but it didnt perform to well..
ROCK
Lenny Kravitz- FLY AWAY
9/10-- i loved the way it handled this song, almost perfect. everything is where its supposed to be.
Limp Bizkit- Boiler
8/10--possibly because the fact there is to many low freq. in this song. it was still very good tho.
Trance-
Stunt- Raindrops.
8.5/10.. did great , although a subwoofer would absolutly help.
DownTempo.
8.5/10
did great although tweeter maybe a little too harsh for this music.
this testing was done with a Panasonic 730 HU, with a 96db s/n.. which isnt great. and a PPI dcx1000.4 with the gain at about 65%.[/IMG]

Good thing you don't have the tweeter completely aimed at you, of course its going to be harsh aimed at you.
I have a good feeling that $500 for these vs $450 for the germs would be a BIG waste of money on these.

it does but it sounds as if the band was right in front of you playing, so obviously the drummer cant be on your right and left, you can hear the drummer on the right and the guitar on the left and singer in the middle, it's actually really cool.
i would assume people would charge 500 for these, i bought them for 245..
it's a great rock speaker but an ok rap speaker.

You realize that has nothing to do with the speakers right? It's the recording that determines what speakers play which notes at any given time. If you have speakers that don't have proper stereo seperation there's something wrong with your wiring.

Audio channel split has nothing to do with your speakers. If it's a stereo recording then it'll play across all speakers. Some songs are cross-recorded and fuse mono with stereo...so often times you'll hear channel waving where the sound moves from left to right, and right to left (fairly common in rock band demo songs) and used as a technique in a lot of techno songs.
Otherwise, all of that guitar in the left speaker and drums in the right speaker stuff is in your head -- especially since drums always have to sound centered.

The headunit only plays what is recorded on the cd. The band being left or right is soley from the cd (or mp3 or whatever). I appreciate your post as I like to hear opinions on different speakers, but for working at a stereo shop you sure don't know jack.
The L/R balance on the HU will only change the volume given to the speakers, not adjust placement of different instruments.

It is true that some songs have split up the vocals and instruments between left and right channels, however I have only heard this in older songs i.e. pre-stereo. I can only speculate this happens is because the song was recorded in mono originally, someone split up the vocals and instruments to take advantage of the LR stereo split. This is may be what ecko was hearing.
What makes is a bad Hip Hop speaker? What the hell is a good Hip Hop speaker?
