Does anyone know the response and sensitivity along with other specs on the factory bose 8"? So I have a bit of an idea of what I'm already hearing out of my stereo?

Bose does not give out specs on their speakers, however the sub is rated at 2 ohms. My guess is that it plays frequencies from the mid 60hz range on up to about 600hz.

Wow, if you're anywhere in the ballpark that means damn near any decent aftermarket sub will sound better. Most of the 8" inch Fosgates, Polk, Kickers etc are 20-30 on the low end and about 400 to 500 on the high end.

That is a very good assumption. Don't worry to much about the FR as it is very decieiving. You will not notice a big difference between a sub that can play to 30 hz and one that can play down to 20hz.

From what I've been reading, effeciency is also important. But most important of all is the differences in the way a manufacturer rates them. For example one of the kicker 8's is rated from 30 to 500hz. The Fosgate is rated from 40 to 250hz. The fosgate can hit the 30's and can hit the 500s but its optimal range is 40 to 250 where as kicker lists their actual min and max. Hopefully that made sense, but thats what I've gathered from reading the last few days.

I'm gonna have to go with the 8 and amp it fellas. I was considering a 10 or 12 based on what everyone had said but honestly the jump to a 10 ads another 60 bucks total onto the price. Which I realize may not seem like much but at this point since my goal is to be clearer than stock and not necessarily louder I think an 8 might fit the bill. I am, however, buying an amp that will power a 10 or 12 down the road if I decide to go that route and the 8 can go in my wifes car. So either way I dont see how I can lose and if the 8 is adaquate for me then I saved myself some money.

It looks like ultimate electronics will be handling my install and I'm also going to buy the deck from them.

Sounds good man, I would make sure you research the subs VERY WELL.

frequency response=0 bearing in my sub selection but that is just me. any sub playing over 125hz in a car is useless IMO for daily listening.

Box, although fosgate said the P2 would work on the deck I think I wanna try it in a box. Then if I dont like the sub as I said I'll put it in the wifes car and pickup a 10 for myself. Fosgate punch 2 seems like it'll fit the bill. It's not as good as the alumapro but it is half the price and the price had begun to creep towards 1000 bucks and the wife was getting a bit annoyed. So I didn't really wanna push it so I figured I can try this for a while and see what happens. The deck will be the Pioneer 5800.

Thats what I've read, well anywhere from 125 to 200 seems to be where people say it begins to be useless.

Well I've talked to two people with alumapro and they said they sound good but that they sound unnatural?

I don't know about that..... you're going to want bass, and in an 8 to get alot of bass you want a good quality product, alumapro will do the job and blow away the RF's etc. Maybe they sound unnatural but they will produce an s-load of bass.

And yes nismo I want some bass and I want a clear tight sound, I was originally leaning towards the alumapro 8 because I figured it could hit harder than the P2 was I right in this?

edit: the reason I went back to the fosgate is everyone and their dog was upgrading me further and further and further. At one point I had 1200 dollars in equipment which is NOT gonna happen. So I went back to basics to achieve better sound than factory. I could still do the Alumapro sub if its actually gonna be better for my application.

Ya the alumapro is going to out do the rf, and it will hit harder. I am considering getting one though I do not have one.

That enclosure would probably do nice but I don't know what the ported specs are on the alumapro. Oh and u want one built from 3/4 - 1" MDF not 5/8. No sense in getting good equipment then ruining it with a shoddy box.
