Trunk Floor
Hey guys.
So I pulled the trunk carpet outa my max today and took it into woodshop with the intent to build a floor for my trunk so that my sub will stop "sinking" into the whole for my spare tire. I put the carpet on a piece of 1/4 partical board and cut it out to shape. , Then it hit me when I was trying to squeze it into the trunk "This thing isnt gona fit threw the trunk jam". Anyway.......So i got this sweet floor for my trunk that doesnt fit in. Anyone build something to give there floor alittle more support other than that flimsy cardboard that nissan gave us? I was thinkin of tracin that and cuttin the wood to that shape? The trunk isnt exactly smooth so i kinda wana give it a nice flat floor for my sub to sit on, and then screw some L-bracets in it to hold the box in place.
Any ideas would be cool?

Whattap brotha! I got the quick and easy answer to yo prooooooobleeeeeemmmmmmmssss.
Simple piece of flat metal called a "mending plate" will solve everything. Basically you just cut your board so it will fit in your trizzunk. (I recommend a smaller part off of one of the sides instead of directly down the middle. This is so the mending plate is not taking all of the weight of what is in your trunk.) Then you take this flat piece of metal that has staggard holes in it and screw it in the BOTTOM (this is so you dont have any bumps in the carpet and it looks flat) of the board. Then your all set!
Make sure you use screws that are not going to stick all the way through the board. They have to be long enough to only keep the mending plate in place.
I did this in my 00 max and then evened out the trunk with some blocks on the bottom so that it was all level it looked dope!
here is an example the one i had was alot better and wider. Remember the wider it stretches the better it will be the less flex it will have.

The spare tire well is a perfect circle (forget the radius) with the northeast corner coming to a rounded point. I cut out the middle, made a little recessed box, drilled a hole in the middle for the white spare tire screw. The height of the recessed box makes the piece exactly flush with the trunk floor.
It's lightweight and can come out when I need to get to my spare tire.
I'm considering mass producing these this summer, but in the meantime, that's all the info you get

Also, you will probably have to level off the side of the trunk that's closest to the tail lights. The area closer to the pass-through is higher.
Practicality wins, always.
