noise from Rainbows

Hey I just put my germaniums in today. I hooked them to my 4150 I have the gain down low. I am getting noise from them. Is it because I have the factory speakser still hooked up? I have the rears and the 6x9's in the rear deck still hooked up. I will be taking them out in a day or two. I just need that noise cleaned up before I tune my system. Also getting alti whine how do i get rid of it. I have a yellow top batt up front a odessy 925 in the trunk. I everything grounded to the battery in the trunk then that is attached to the frame under the car. Oh I for got to ground the head unit back there too. is that what is causing the whine it is loud as heck. It is late and I tired, normally fix all the kinks my self but this time I want so input from other gurus. All wire is 4 gauge off the amp and from front battery to the rear. Then 0ga from rear battery to distro block. just in case some one ask.

Why did you not go with a bigger gauge from the front of the car to the rear? I do not think that this is the source of the problem, I am just curious.

Do you have decent RCA cables?

Do you have speaker wire going directly from the amp to the speakers?

Start by properly grounding the HU then see if the alt whine is still there.

Besides the alt whine, can you describe the noise the speakers are making? Would you call it a snop? Crackle? Pop's? Distortion? Bottoming out?

Or is it just bad alt whine?

Ground that head.

Ya def start with grounding the headunit. Is the chassis of the amp grounded? I highly doubt that would cause a problem, but you never know.

The noise from the speakers is gone I unpluged the factory amp that powered the 6x9's. I will ground the HU with the rest of the system.

No the the wires go to the crossover then to the amp.

I did not go larger from front to back because I am running 2 batterys and it is not needed to do 0ga from front battery to rear. I have 0ga from rear battery to distro block.

I know they go to crossovers, but what I was trying to ask was if you spliced into factory speaker wiring anywhere, like to get into your doors.

Actually your primary current draw is going from Alt to battery. It is also the longest run. 0Awg would be more beneficial. Whereas a smaller from rear batt to amps/dist would be fine.

A week or two should be sufficient.
