I know lots of you guys have done this so some free advice would be much appreciated. I just dont want to break anything trying to get it out.

It's really simple. Start at the gear shift plate. It's best if you turn on the car for a minute and put the car in low gear (low 1 or low 2...this will help to get the trim over the shifter.) Insert a thin screwdriver in either rounded corner of the shift plate and pull upward until you have grip on it. Pull upwards and slide the plate away from the center panel underneath the A/C. Remove all harness connections from back of trim. Next, remove the A/C vent trim from top. Take two hands and grab the inside of vents and pull towards yourself. Pull hard because the clips are really secure. Next remove four bolts holding the radio bracket in. Remove all harness connections from behind and your done. If your're planning to remove the Bose HU from the bracket, be prepared that those bolts are on there extra, extra tight. Nissan seems to "locktite" those bolts in the bracket. You may even have to cut them off. That's what I had to do to mine. Good luck!

Use a #2. Tighten, then loosen.

I had my head unit on the ground putting all my weight on the screw driver just to get the screws out.....they really seemed to strip easily! I probably didn't have the exact match for the screws tho.

tighten, then loosen is what worked for me too.

#2 screwdriver tip for good contact.

Tighten till you hear a click. That indicates the screw's "seal" has been broken. You will be able to loosen after that.

You're missing ONE IMPORTANT STEP which may cause him to BREAK SOMETHING or make him feel like a retard when he's doing it. Open the coin tray next to the hazard switch...pull out the insert. Behind that there's a screw..unscrew it. THEN you can do what you said to do.
