Help with new car bose HU

Hello guys,
Just wanted to say hello to all the fellow maxima owners. I just got my first maxima and I'm loving it. All my friends/family have had/currently own maximas. Anyways heres my question. When I bought the car I just tested out the radio, I didn't try out the cd player or the tape player untill I got home. When I put a cd in it tells me disc error. I thought it might have been because of a burned cd, so I tested a regular cd and I had the same problem. What could be the problem? A friend of mine told me there could be dust inside there and to blow it out with a can of compressed air. What would be the best way to fix this issue?

Instead of paying 100+ to get it serviced/fixed get a new HU

Your HU is gone. Had the same problem with my 96 Bose HU. I just bought an 02 Max with the Bose 6 Disc Changer in Dash and will replace it soon.

How much does a bose hu run? If I get the non-bose will I have to change the bose speakers too?

^ You can get one off eBay for about $150 or so. You won't have to change out your Bose speakers if you upgrade to a non-Bose HU, but you'll need an OEM interface adaptor. Check out Crutchfield and put in you car's info and you'll see what I mean.

No scratches at all , And still has the harness on it , Came out of my friend's maxima when he upgraded to a very expensive system.

Im sure you could get a few opinion's around the board but i think the bose system would be all you need.

Thanks for the offer but my brother is going to let me use his old HU out of one of his maximas. I want to upgrade to the flipout navigation moniter eventually. While I save up the bose one will have to do.

This Bose adaptor and this dash kit, assuming you have a 2000-2001 Maxima. The OEM adaptor works on 1994 and newer, the dash kit only on 00-01.
