Some pics of the carpentry in my trunk...
So even though everyone knows what products I'm running, i think it would be cool to show everyone how I have my trunk setup, as far as woodworking is concerned. I did this a while ago but never showed it off.
The reason I like it is because it is still 100% fully practical and usable. I have full access to my spare tire, without any worries about the subs. A couple people have inquired, so here's the thread.
onto the pics!
Basically what I did is create a 1/2" MDF board that is the shape of the spare tire well.
(13 inch diameter circle, take the top right 90 degree lines and T off to a rounded corner)...sorry the shelf covers that area. Then I cut a square in the middle and made a recessed box and cut a hole in the middle of the "floor" of the box for the mounting screw. The beauty of the recessed box is that it is the perfect height to square the board off with the floor of the trunk..making everything flush and level. When I lay my carpet down there are no dips or humps. Getting the box lined up was tricky, I had to make the box and screw it in using the spare tire screw (big white thing) then lay the board on top and screw the board to the box to make it all one piece.
The shelf (holds the box for my dual 10's) was Don's idea, he's done it in many cars. 2 pieces of 5-6 inch long 2x4's and a piece of 1/2" MDF as the shelf. Looks like his carpet job is peeling though
Well there you have it. Relatively lightweight, still 100% practical, and does the job of replacing that POS hardboard very well.
If you would like more dimensions, or hell, if you want me to build you one, just let me know.
*****edit: Dimensions are no longer offered. Please see this thread if you'd like me to build/sell you one.

Wow...looks like there is some demand for this.
If you would like to make your own based on my pictures, go for it...but I've decided I won't be providing any measurements, as that would be poor business practice...
IF you want me to MAKE you one, I am in the works of pricing out the materials, labor, as well as taking measurements for other generations..currently I know that the measurements I have will fit a 5.0 and 5.5 gen. I will find out tomorrow if they fit a 4.0 gen.
Once I have the prices set, they will not be very negotiable unless you buy in bulk. Keep in mind that my prices will be very fair.
I will keep you all posted...
Thanks!!

Yes, I can. I'm going to be doing a GD of sorts, once I figure out all the logistics. Stay tuned and I'll shoot you a PM. In the meantime, if you know anyone else who is looking for one, direct them to this thread (if the moderator allows it) so that I can get a pseudo head-count.

Nilesh is it? Very nice work man. I have a 5th gen and I'm very interested if you are making these. I'm about to buy a enclosed 12" and my floor has already sagged into the well deep. Keep me in consideration for that head count. Thanks.

Will be test fitting for a 4th gen this weekend.
This piece is NOT an amp rack, and it may not be strong enough to hold a subwoofer box. It is a spare tire cover only. That is why I have a shelf towards the back of the trunk so that my subwoofer box can sit on that.

***UPDATE***
I have finally met with my friend and his 4th gen. IT FITS! The spare tire well on the 4th and 5th gen are exactly the same, which means that I can make the same board and it will work across both gens!!
I don't want to start a classifieds thread in this section, so I will start one shortly and post the link here. In the meantime, please get the word out that a spare tire solution exists, at a VERY affordable price, and that the initial group deal will be starting shortly.
