Need help getting best sound out of components...help please!!!
Ok hi guys. I have an 03 max and just switched my speakers to type r components in front and type r 2ways in back (got a really good deal). They are being powered by an alpine mrp-f450 giving them about 70 watts rms connected to an alpine 9855 deck. Anyways, when i first had them installed, the person had set them all to hp freq. on the amp but i wanted a lil bump in the front so i turned it off for the components but left it on for the rears. Now after less than a week, i have a blown tweeter in the passenger a-pillar that i need to replace (got 4yr replacement so its all good.) Now my question is, until i get my subs, whats the best way to set these speakers on the amp?? And how should the x-overs for the components be set??? Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thank You.

The components should already be set on their respective crossovers. That is the whole purpose of the crossovers, unless they are adjustable like running them full range or just high end. Run the components full range and run them full range on the amp. They will sound much better. When you add the subs, you can still run them full range, but no too much low/mid bass in the front. The bass from the subs will fill up the car. Running a tweeter beyond its recommended frequency will definitely burn it up. Tweeters are very sensitive and can easily be fried if they aren't driven right.

yeah, the tweets should be getting anything it can't handle since that's the crossover's main job of distributing the proper frequency range to each respective driver. don't know how it would blow just by turning the amp's HPF off.
