'02 SE Stereo Install Pictures - HU, speakers, power.
So I had some spare time today to get some more of me stereo install completed. On Tuesday, I installed my headunit and a PAC SWI-PS steering wheel control interface.
Today, I installed some MDF rings with Infinity 6.5 6012i Reference speakers and bass blockers (caps) in the front doors. I also installed RCA cables, remote turn-on and power, Alpine amp and original 10" Kicker Solobaric.
Here is the stereo...

Here is where I ran my power wire thru the firewall for my amp...
I used the passthru where the cable driven accelerators are on the early gens. Since the 5.5 is electronically driven, this opening just had a rubber cover over it instead of a cable. It was too small for my power wire, so I had to remove the pedal accelerator to get my drill in there to widen the hole, but it was quite simple and looks great. Added a rubber pcv valve grommet that I got from AutoZone to protect the wire from getting stripped on the bare metal.

The Solobaric is in a .75 sealed airspace as recommended and I have a Alpine 200w amp running it. Sounds eh... I am changing the woofer out today and porting the box. I have never had ANY luck with sealed enclosures or woofers, so I think the Solobaric is out.
Other than that the front sounds great!!

I just ported the box with 2 1.5" round x 4.5" long ports and installed a cheap a$$ FREE 10" DUAL subwoofer. Actually sounds better, but still not what I expected. Several years back (several), I ran 2 10" Kicker Comps (each at 8ohm into parrellel to 4 ohm) off of a 120 watt bridged Alpine and those things were insane. Massive bass response. I have never been able to recreate the sound I got from those. That setup was also in a hatchback so...

So, is that normal for a sub to actual fry like that and smoke from too much amperage. The smoke came from the voicecoil vent in the center of the magnet.

Install looks good. Maybe, one suggesstion, though. Spend some money on a GXE trim kit. Your center panel will look much better and more factory like. I think that Metra and Scosche don't quite match the dash right for the headunit. Other than that,

those Duals can't take too much power going to them. burnt VC smell
but looks good. i did very similar MDF mounts of that exact shape. Except I glued 3/4" MDF rings onto a 1/4" plate. I then mounted that to the stock bolt locations.
