10" owners please step in..(subwoofers that is).

All joking aside..I currently want to change my setup.I got a custom box with a 12" woofer(RE), now due to space/weight issues i will like to get two 10" woofers..they got to be wired at 250rms each at 2ohms..the amp is a Memphis mc500(stable at 2ohm) anyway any suggestion.

what are the external dimensions of this box? typically sealed vs. sealed the 1 12" speaker box is smaller than the 2 10" boxes.

well i took that into consideration, however the current boxt that i got it`s ported tuned at 28, so i was thinking of running the 10`s sealed.(it should be the same amount of space)

I figured it had to have been ported...my guess is its an SE 12? another alternative to save weight is to make a new box out of birch ply. my 3.68cuft ported box for my 15" avalanche weighed a total of 40lbs without the sub. if you are going to more SQ by sealing up 2 10's then that is a different story.

werd..on the SE,12..Im not really looking for SQ(although i know i will get that with a seal box) it`s just that i want to try something different...now what type of woofers should i be looking at?

you certainly can't go wrong with the type r's...but I would look at these.

for the price I think they will pleasently surprise you. they have had some troubles getting started with other areas of audio like components, but their subs are very solid.

they match up perfectly...250 watts per sub. they are SVC 4 so they make a 2 ohm load with that amp. 250 per sub is plenty trust me.

Eclipse Aluminums, SVC or DVC will do you nicely, they have great sq and admireable output. i think the dvc's are 500rms tho, but even with less power than that they sound good imo.

Go with 2 JL 10's in a sealed split box. They need very little airspace when sealed and they sound sweet. I just bought 3 JL 10's and am working on a design for the box. I had 2 JL 12's until I got these.
