Have a system in your Max?

This may coincide with my previosu thread but i have a system also in my car....i think the guy may have wired it wrong, because I got it rewired and now, the bass is wayyyyyy to strong.....I can barely hear the words on any song, so my brother said if I get new hi's that it should fix the problem....any other insight from anyone else with a system?

P.S.- the ledge under my back windsheild rattles a lot tooooo :-/

You asked the same damn question again. You don't want just new highs, new highs = tweeters. You need new mids and highs. Get a good set of components speakers up front and an amp. You'll be set.

What speakers do you have in the front/rear? What amp is powering them? Are they coaxials or components? Do you have a crossover or hpf/lpf used on the amp? If so, where are the crossover/hpf/lpf points? Slopes? ....etc....

My guess is he's running two 4 Ohm woofers in parallel and bridged on a Punch amp.

Kinda helps to have the model numbers on the product he's using.

Bass... too strong If you can still see or breath easily, its not too loud. You just need a frontstage that can keep up with it.

What kind of RF amp? If you have to take the sheetmetal off to get to this bass ****, then you might just be messing with the bias pots inside.

I had the same problem when my rear polks coaxials were in for warranty replacement. The 2 12" subs were way too strong for the speakers up front. When I got them back, I amped them and the music is perfect now. Also, make sure the gain is set right. Bass boost should only be set for around 6db unless you are trying to look big and bad with your road vibrating bass. the bass boost doesnt just turn up the bass, it exagerates it and throws it off a bit. If you are looking for perfect sounding music use around 6db bass boost.

Bass boost at 6 db is DOUBLE the standard amount of bass compared to a non-processed signal, if you think that is better than a flat signal.... you're smoking some crack.
