my JL W6 blew what to do?

i recently blew my w6. the molding around the rubber is ripped and it sounds horrible. will jl replace this or do i need to buy new ones?

you didn't blow it, you damaged it..

how did it happen? screwdriver? old age? something hit it?

mine are 6 years old, and still look and sound brand new after living a life beaten by a 600+ W amp in 4 different installs... so I find it hard to believe they fell apart on their own.

As for what they'll do with yours, take it back to a local dealer and have them send it in for repair. tears in the surround are 99% of the time NOT covered under warranty (as it's a good indicator of damage or misuse by the customer).. They will completely overhaul the sub- remove the entire surround, cone, suspension, everything. then rebuild it with new innards.
the only thing original you'll get back is the basket and magnet. everything else will be brand new (basically you'll have a brand new speaker).

Cost on it is around $125 last time I talked to my JL dealer about 3 years ago (when I punched a hole in one with a screwdriver).
