No dash kit for double din?

I just got a cd deck from best buy, an alpine 9856. i would like to do the install myself, ive done a few before and its pretty fun but they had free installation plus its covered under warranty, so i went with that. My question is, he sold me the wire harness and deck but i asked how much the dash kit was and he said you dont need one its a direct bolt. I was like, ok- last i heard, and correct me if im wrong, a DIN means a slot in the dash right? and 01 bose is double din and i got a single deck? whats up with that?

i recomend the stock double din gxe kit....all the other aftermarket double dins they sell have a reputation for being sub par...theres a sticky maybe in the general forum saying which dealer u should call to get the best deal but i think its still going to cost ya around 100 bucks.

Yes you def need one. BB doesnt know their a$$ from their elbows. Itll be substantially more than that for the GXE kit, although not needed for your single din app, not to mention BB wouldnt have it as its an OEM piece.

Youll most likely get the Metra kit. Simply tell them your not paying for due to the fact you were told its not needed.
