Help with adding sub and amp to bose
Okay so I have the bose system. I've been trying all day to add subs to my car, with little luck. I tried a line level input from before the bose sub amp to the sub and after. We're not getting a very strong input signal. Tried splicing RCA's straight to input wires to the bose sub amp, a little louder, not much. Tried signal from a rear speaker, a little louder, not much. Whats the deal? I have a 2002 SE with bose 6disc btw.
First mistake is bose hu.
Seriously though does your amp have a high level converter. If it does then you are in luck. All you need to do is splice the rear speaker + and - connect them to the amps harness and go from there. If not then you should just get a better HU.

Gain is fine. I was using a line level converter, but as I said, it was worse than without. I'm going to be going bose for a while, my pioneer 9600mp went with my old car. My amp is the rockford fosgate 1000bd and my sub is a 15in eclipse titanium. Thanks for any additional input.
I just used a line level converter. Remove the screws from the bose amps that hold it onto the speaker, you will see the speaker wire terminals the wires (outputs from the bose amp) are red and green on my 97. I tapped into those and it works perfect. I just use the bose mids and a class d sub amp for now. I set the gains on the converter the way the directions say and use the front/rear fader for a gain as well.
I tried that tooo, didn't work as well as tapping into a rear speaker....i dunno, im confused really, It just seems I'm getting like no preamp output voltage...welll...very little...
All that stuff is set...it was beating good in my 4th gen, the only thing different is the head unit thats giving it signal is the bose, not my pioneer. Is there a preamp output amplifier? Anyone else have an idea? I'm still researching
You *should* get a decent signal out of the Bose. It is by no means strong or clear, but it's been utilized by many people with no issues. If you gain is set the same from your Pioneer HU, by switching to Bose you WILL have to raise your gain.
Yeah I know, i've been fiddling all day yesterday and today... I think im going to try a different sub and amp...i know theres nothing wrong with mine, i just have a feeling it is a setup requiring a little more than the bose wants to give it...i can barrow my old 10s back with a 500 watt amp to see if the difference in amps is any help... how do we go about using bass blockers on our highs with the bose? normally...orrrr
I was thinking a bass blocker to cut out even more frequencies from my highs. I dunno maybe I'm crazy. Lack of sleep is getting to me...I realized after I posted a crossover would be way more appropriate...but a line driver huh? I'll look into that.
Will this do what I am looking for? Should I go with a higher quality one? Or will that pretty well do it? I see lots of recommendations for PAC products in the stickies so I'd imagine this will do quite well....thanks for all of your help guys, I appreciate it a lot.
