HELP: Amp wont turn on

So I installed all the proper heavy duty wires to run my anmp, and it wont turn on. I pulled the fuse from the amp while the power was on, and a got a few sparks as I put it back in.

I think the ground I used is not making a good connection. I bolted it to the back seat support bolt.

Where is the best ground in the trunk or backseat area? (4th gen)

Get a multimeter, even a cheap $5-10 one from walmart, and test the voltage of your power and remote wires at the amp.

that happened to me before when i had my older system hooked up and it turned out my remote was gone.. had to wire it so the amps turn on when the car is on as opposed to turning on from when my deck goes on

1. good chance u blew either the amp's fuse or the glass fuse leading to the battery; i did that connecting my amp for the first time. the glass fuse could be blown even though it may look intact to the nekkid eye.

2. try grounding to one of the screws holding one of the seat belt clips to the backseat "frame"; scrape away the paint around the hole to make sure u have good metal-to-metal contact.

i would just ground directly onto the chassis. what i did in my 3rd gen was, drilled a hole in the spare tire well, sand to bare metal, and attached the ground with a nut and bolt.

Ground it directly to chassis, you'd be suprised how the smallest amount of paint can cause a bad ground. Make sure u scratch away paint to get bare metal. Also by chance did you check your remote wire? May be another reason why its not turning on.
