I think Crutchfield has some high quality CDs to use, so I imagine a local retailer would aswell.

The album 'Lauren Christy' by Lauren Christy is my first stop for sound quality testing. It's really well mixed and has some great vocals.

IASCA I like mostly becuase I'm very familiar with it and "where" and "how" stuff should sound on it, though not necessarily my favorite songs. Emma disk has a few helpful tracks too.

Otherwise I have a few personal favorites, but I think they're mostly favorites cause I like the music. I have a buddy that gonna burn me his HUGE compilation of CD's that he uses to test SQ. Maybe I'll share eventually....

Here's the opinions of some people with more experience...

Thanks guys. I do have a IASCA Cd but I was really looking for personal favorites. When buying a cd or downloading a song its really a crap shoot as to sound quality.

personal favorites are...

Sade, "The Best of Sade"
Eagles, "Hell Freezes Over"
Paul Mauriat, "Retrospective" *this one is a bit hard to find in stores*
Norah Jones, "Come Away With Me"

That's the artist followed by album name.

I guess. I was of course speaking of Mic. I'm sure the collections are similar.

USAC uses the live version of Hotel California. I also like any live Dave Mathews, Jazz works great. There is a group called hiroshima and the album is called black and white. this cd is very dynamic and it will really tell you how well your system is set up. Maxwell unplugged is one of my favs too.
