Bluetooth Question and Aftermarket HU

I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima SL. It came with the bluetooth, it works great. But I changed my HU to the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 which has navigation, DVD, and is also bluetooth compatible. Pioneer sells a seperate adapter for the AVIC-Z1 so that bluetooth enabled phones can connect to it just like the factory bluetooth does. My question is since I have the bluetooth already in my car can I connect that to the Pioneer AVIC-Z1? So that I'm able to use it and not have to buy the seperate adapter. Thank you in advance.

Does the factory bluetooth work through the factory HU? If not, why bother?

Unfortunately the blue tooth unit is integrated into the bose factory HU. However the signal processor is located up in the dome assembly, so if you have paired your phone to the car already you'll notice that the car picks it up but no sound is generated through the speakers. This is what I ran into when I swapped mine out....
