I'm looking to spend upto $500, maybe $600. Sound quality is a must with good features. Preferably with seperate sub out control. I used to have the JVC Kameleon, awesome features for the money, but the sound quality wasn't upto par. Many people recommend the Alpine and Eclipse, but I don't know anything about them. I'm getting a Extant amp to power my DynaAudio mids and JL Audio sub.
I recently had my deck and amps stolen.

I always recommend Alpine. They have excellent SQ and are reliable. There are some other good ones out there, though.

I like the higher end Eclipse decks. . . I think there sound quality is good, and I like the theft protection system they have in them (Digitally encoded Serial #, User controlled Security disk if power is disconnected). I don't know much about other decks out there. . . I have heard some people questioning the quality of Alpine lately, but I think that is in lower end deck usually.

I have an excellent Alpine head unit (with sub-out) and changer (both only used for one year) for sale in the "parts for sale" forum.

How much did you pay for them

Yeah, I understand they are a bit old, but the head unit is an ALPINE 7558, it was the very top of the line cassette head unit at the time (subout, and dual illumination, etc.). It was $600 new. The S604 AI Net changer was the best at the also. I believe it was about $250 new.

Here is info on the 7759. This looks identical to the 7558, Im not sure what the exact difference is, im sure not much if any. This will give you an idea about it though...

Hey Mightymax...

Which Dyna's do you have? My clarion works GREAT with mine. Clarion's got a head unit for around $600 thats is very nice. What made you deside on the Extant amps? Don't get me wrong. I like them Just curious how they sound with your speakers. I am in love with my Tube Drivers, but would like to know how they sound with a different amp.....

Re: Hey Mightymax...

Oops, I don't have Dynaudio, I have Dimond Audio component mids. Do you know which one is better? Actually I don't have the Extant amps yet. My system got stolen 2month ago. So I'm building up my system again with the insurance money. I had the Old skool Rockford fosgate 100ix powering my Dimond Audios. It sounded awesome! It has a "in your face" details, with smooth top, and super deep staging. One of my friend thought that I had speakers hidden in the A-pillars and the Dash . I'm getting the Extant for their SQ, and reputation. Everyone seems to win with Extant Amps.

Damn, you mean I'm still the only one one here with Dyna's?

Personally, i will always and forever love Dynadio. I've known of them for a long time for their Home audio speakers. You get rock solid but very natual midbass, and vocals are some of the best I've heard. But you do pay for them... Retail for the 2 way is $760 but you an sometimes find them for a couple hundred cheaper.
Extant are great amps. I just chose my Tube drivers because of the match they have with my speakers. They also have buttloads of nice bold natural bass. JL stealthboxs go nuts with them. a good guy that helped me out alot ( can't stop raving about him) is Peter Lufrano. His site is http://www.theautophile.com
Good luck with the reinstall.....

you got the two way or threeway?? i was looking into getting the 360. but i'm going illusion audio.. oh i always wanted to ask this, do you still hafta wait for the tube drivers to warm up? like back in the days with home stereo? i heard tube drivers help the sq but isn't all that efficient? but hey if they work good i'ma look into them too

No I got the 2 way, cause I don't have room for the midgerange

Damn things huge..... At one time it was the size of a 5 1\4. As far as the amps go, there is NO warm up time. There's a bypass that kicks in for about 20 seconds until the tubes warm up. They do work very well. No they aren't the most efficient, but they aren't bad. they are rated at 75 watts RMS but actually run at about 90 when the car is on. These amps have *****. they have a low end kick like you wouldn't believe. Out of all the amps I have seen for sale on E Bay, I have only seen 2 Tube Drivers for sale, out of like 1600 amps people were selling.. I'll never get rid of mine....

Why is it that Alpine after all these years of offering 3 year warranties has switched to a one year warranty on their product? I own Alpine products now, and have before, but unless you are going with video, Eclipse is the way to go. Alpine has sold out over the years. Eclipse offers 8 volt pre-outs on their decks and a three year warranty. They are what Alpine was in regards to premier quality. If you want to go to video the Eclipse 7001 is remarkable, except that it only offers one set of inputs. just my 2cents.
