How many run ground from battery too.

My owners manual for my amp states that systems over 300 watts should run a ground from the battery too. Has anybody done this. Or is the 3 foot ground enough. My wires are 4 gauge to a cap to my 600 watt amp. Still trying to find a PPI chrome PC4400 to go with my PC2600 to complete my setup.

Find a solid ground to the chassis of your car (in your trunk where the amp is) and sand it well. Running a ground wire all the way back to your battery shouldn't be necessary at all. Many of us are running more power than that without the need to run a ground wire back to the batt.....

if anything that would be worse, ground should be as short as possible.

IMO the factory grounds are terrible. The battery clamps are on the cheesy side too. I have always been taught over the years to have the same size ground wire as you have for the amp's B+ wire. It's always a good thing to have a solid return path to the battery. Definetely get yourself a good set of aftermarket battery clamps that have more surface area than the factory ones while you're at it. The system will only be as good as it's weakest link. W/O upgrading your battery ground, you're not helping matters.

Not saying to run a ground wire from the battery to the amplifier, should have been clearer. Like I said it was IMO, and thanks for your's.

I've done systems in the past w/o upgrading the battery ground and it's worked. Not doubting that. Did my Maxi system that way too and it worked okay. Changed out the battery clamps and upgraded the battery ground later and it did make a difference on a 400W system.
