Battery Isolator 1... me 0
Battery Isolator 1... me 0
So the guy who sold me the car was running a multiple battery setup and he had a battery isolator in the engine bay.

This thing was useless for me.. as I am only running one battery.
All of a sudden.. both amps in the trunk stopped working.
The Elemental Designs Nine.2 blew both fuses and the Rockford Fosgate a400 completely got totaled. (it had a 250a inline fuse on it which didnt blow)

don't those transistors look lovely?
Well.. now I got a Nine.4 on the way.. and the blue "magic box" as me and my friends call it.. is having fun in the magical garbage can.
The 3 screws you see on it... one goes to battery.. one comes from alternator and the other goes to amp power [trunk]
The electrolite goodness inside the isolator started leaking [nasty black stuff]
and the connection btwn battery and alternator was non existant.
The alternator was basically spinning freely without any load.. and putting out 21v!!!
Clearly this toasted the RF amp.
Also my battery wasn't getting charged so I'm lucky I noticed this.. or else I probably would have gotten stuck somewhere today.
So after getting rid of the isolator.. I connected the battery and Alt.. and for now system is unhooked.. until I get the amp.. then I'll connect it all fused properly.
