just a quick question

re: 1996 gle bose system
if i remove the stock head unit will there be connectors behind it where i can connect stripped audio rca cables to?

No, no, no! You have to buy a line out converter http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IgugZ69...=721&I=142SLC4. Then you tap into the + and - wire going to one of your rear speakers if you are adding a sub.

a line out converter basically splits audio signals into 4 channels right? can't i achieve the same effect by just stripping wires and making Y splits?

ok so i want to completely remove the bose headunit. not use it at all because i want to put a lcd there. i would like to get audio from a carputer and use the car's speakers.
Pac Aoem-nis2?

Get an different headunit with AUX inputs, and use those, then you keep radio and all
