4th gen w/ 6x9's in rear??

hello all - its my first time posting in this section as i'm not really into the audio world, but i need some help. I have a non-bose 4th gen that sadly is not garaged, and the speakers have taken a beating from the sun - and sound terrible.

Around christmas i bought some door speakers b/c it needed them badly. I cheaped out and went with these pioneers from bestbuy.

It still sounds terrible, so i was thinking that some 6x9's might help out since the low end is were its really missing out. I'm not going for anything super loud or high quality, i just want it like it was stock and maybe a bit better. I'm not sure how hard it would be to fit 6x9's but i figured it can't be that hard to mod the rear deck...

What are your thoughts? Should i mod the rear deck and fit some 6x9's or are 6.5's or w/e is supposed to be back there good enough?

thanks for any input.

Good 6.5's will do the trick, put the ones you have up front in the back and get a better pair for the front with a high sensitivity.

high sensitivity? sorry, i'm kinda an audio newb. Is that like the freq. range?

I believe those 6.5's were the best i could get using just a head unit. Maybe i need to get an amp. - I was just thinking that the 6x9's would provided the extra bass i was looking for

I have the Rockford Punch series 6x9s on the rear deck...they'll run you about 120 but sounds good for a midpriced speaker

If you don't want to mod the rear, you can just get boxes for the 6x9s.

if you put 6x9s in the rear you have to cut holes for 4th gen... so why bother? just put the 6.5s back there and get some good components for up front. it will give you a small amount of bass, but nothing compared to a sub.

well b/c its pretty easy to cut a hole and i figured the 6x9 would give me more than a 6.5. A sub is out of the question, since i'm trying to keep it cheap.

give you more what? sloppy sound? sound is meant to come out of a perfect circle, not an oval. and its more of a pain in the as* to cut that hole than you think, trust me. i already did it in my car, and i regret it.

If you seal up the rear/sound deaden/use mdf rings, and put in some nice midbass speakers and power them well they will sound good. Look into something like that.
